What did you do this summer?

“This summer Zoetic launched our MIXTAPE dance festival initiative at Southwest Arts Center in Atlanta, GA, featuring 15 dance artists from Atlanta, New York and California. It was an honor and a pleasure to host our 2019 MIXTAPE featured artists and to present their works inspired by the female and LGBTQ+ perspectives with our Atlanta community. We were uplifted and inspired by each artists’ voice and vision, and all of the new meaningful connections that were created over the course of the festival. Over the course two evenings, Zoetic presented dance works that spoke to the truths of femininity, equality, acceptance and inclusivity. Featured artists included Depth Dance (NY), The Lovelies (NY), The Assembly (CA), Fuerta Dance (GA), Andrea Knowlton (GA), Corian Ellisor (GA), and many more! Zoetic was also thrilled to partner with Atlanta renowned visual artist, Catlanta, who created a custom designed MIXTAPE 2019 cat! We are eager to continue our initiative of presenting MIXTAPE annually, and look forward to this season’s MIXTAPE artists and new festival initiatives for 2020!”

What will you bring back to the Atlanta dance community?

Zoetic’s mission involves celebrating the feminine spirit through dance and the arts, and with MIXTAPE, our aim was to not only celebrate femininity in dance, but also to uplift the many unique voices that define the art – the voices that deserve to be heard. Our goal was to connect those voices through a platform that allowed for inclusion and worked towards creating conversations towards positive change in the fight for gender equality and acceptance. Through MIXTAPE, we hope to continue our efforts of sparking change and inspiring artists to share their creative dance works with our Atlanta community.
