Meet our Summer 2021 Interns

Read below to learn more about Ansley, Grace, Gabrielle, and Katie! We are so excited to have them join our team this semester.

Ansley Carr (she/her/hers) is a rising senior pursuing a dual degree in Dance and Marketing with a minor in Entrepreneurship at The University of Alabama. She grew up in Cobb County and danced competitively for 12 years! She was a member of Powerhouse Dance Company all throughout high school. She has attended the Radio City Rockettes Intensive as well as the New York University Steinhardt Intensive. She is currently serving as the External Affairs chair for Dance Alabama! And was a past Community Director for Riptide Dance Crew at UA. This spring, she studied dance abroad at the University of Roehampton in London.

Grace Getsinger (she/her/hers) has spent her entire life immersed in the world of performance. She grew up in the dance studio, and spent her high school years as a member of the Augusta West Performance Company, where she studied a large variety of dance styles. She has studied with well known dance names, such as The Radio City Rockettes, Joffrey Ballet, and more. Grace has spent recent years traveling across the country performing in numerous award winning routines, as well as performing as a feature dancer at both DisneyLand and Disney World. Now, Grace is pursuing a degree in Business with minors in Theater and Nonprofit Management at Oglethorpe University, where she is an Ambassador for the school.

Gabrielle Stearns (she/her/hers) is an Atlanta native studying Dance and Human Health at Emory University. She started dancing at the age of three at The Dance Center in Decatur and continued her training at Dekalb School of the Arts in Avondale Estates. Dance was Gabrielle’s first love but she has also found passions in the last several years for writing and activism. Gabrielle hopes to pursue a career where she is able to use her skills to support marginalized communities, whether that be increasing access to dance and the arts or to quality healthcare. When she is not dancing or in school, Gabrielle can be found rock climbing at the Emory Rock Wall or creating embroidery art for her Etsy shop.

Katie Watkins (she/her/hers) is a dancer, choreographer, poet, and dance teacher from Sharpsburg, GA. Currently, she is pursuing a B.A. Dance and B.A. English double major, with a concentration in Dance Therapy from Brenau University. She spent her high school years training with the Legacy Theater, Compass Dance Academy, and Paulo Manso de Sousa in ballet, jazz, musical theater, modern, and tap. After graduating high school, she received academic and dance talent scholarships from Brenau, where she works as the Editor-In-Chief of The Elixir, Brenau University’s student-run Literary & Arts Magazine. In her two years at Brenau, Katie has been cast in concert dance works by choreographers Nicholas Palmquist, Allyne Gartrell, Xavier Lewis, John Streit, Christen Weimer, as well as many student choreography works. When Katie is not in class or working on the Elixir, you can find her taking photos of her friends or playing with her dog, Izzie.
