Event Details

Relative Motion Winter Contemporary Dance will be the second of three performance offerings for the 69th season of Decatur City Dance. On the weekend of February 4th and 5th, 2023, Decatur City Dance will present AboutFace and Nexus Contemporary, along with performances by the Nexus Premiere and the Nexus Apprentice Ensembles, and a guest performance by members of Kit Modus, an Atlanta-based contemporary dance company, directed by Jillian Mitchell. The show will feature new contemporary works by Toya Willingham, Meg Gourley, Andre Lumpkin, Jacob Attaway, Christina Dupree, as well as a work for Nexus Contemporary called “Home Spaces” in which guest choreographer Emma Morris asks the questions: Who are we in our personal space? How do we change and then share space with strangers? How do the places we call home inform the way we inhabit other spaces?. Toya Willingham will revive her upbeat work “Just Sit” for Nexus Premiere, which examines the thought of rest in this high paced, hectic world.

Performances will be held at the Drew Charter School Performing Arts Theater, 300 Eva Davis Way, SE, Atlanta, GA 30317 at 7pm on Saturday, February 4th and at 2pm on Sunday February 5th. Tickets are $20 adults, $10 students (18 and under) and go on sale Monday, January 9th. For more information and to buy tickets, please visit decaturcitydance.org
