Red Tethers is a series of dance performances centering queer Atlantans lost to HIV/AIDS and the hope that remains from their dreams and mine. For each performance I will create a fabric installation, which I define as a temporary monument. This temporary monument acts as an installation of ephemera that will stay in the park for the public to experience beyond the event. Red Tethers enacts a ritual of aliveness that tethers a past to a more robust queer future for all Atlantans. While this project centers queer audiences, all are invited to witness and participate in this ritual.

  • The entirety of the performance takes place outside. There will be some chairs available but bringing a lawn chair or blanket is encouraged if you would like to be seated.
  • Parking: Street parking available on the Northeast corner of Woodruff Park. The is a parking deck located at 15 Peachtree St #201, Atlanta, GA 30303, one block away from Woodruff Park.
  • Marta Stations: Both Five Points Station and Peachtree Center Station are two blocks away from Woodruff Park
  • Restrooms: There is a public access restroom located on the SE corner of the park.
  • ADA Accessibility: The park is mostly flat and there are multiple paved walkways throughout. Red Tethers will take place along the Peachtree St. side of the park but access into the park can be made via Peachtree St., Luckie St., Park Pl., or Edgewood Ave.
  • Work Length: Approximately 70 minutes in length.
