Class Description: This class places focus on efficiently exercising the body through physical & anatomical technical practices. With an aim towards building strength, stamina, flow, and specific dynamic coordination, the aim of the class is to empower students with tools designed to evolve their movement vocabulary. The 90 minute class structure ascends from the floor to standing and will leave students sweaty, grounded, and deeply connected to their body across three dimensions.

Teaching philosophy: I strive to empower movers with the tools they need to creatively evolve as artists and as movement technicians, creating an environment that gives students agency over their bodies and permission to enjoy their own technical processes. Dance provides space for a group of bodies- regardless of size, age, or ability- to share intimate experiences with one another. It is the embodiment of physical freedom which every human being has the right to enjoy. Encouraging individuals to have a deeper awareness of their personal autonomy is essential to fortifying consent-based models of education.

My Work seeks to foster a sense of community- with newcomers and experienced movers alike. Together, we can research and obtain new goals surrounding what it means to utilize dance as communication- all while exploring modes of storytelling beyond Westernized mediums (such as modern concert dance.) In addition, I hope to share aspects of my Cuban heritage through physical expression- paired with music from my childhood- in such a way that adds to the cultural tapestry of any creative space I inhabit.
