DISCOVER YOUR CORE SELF
• Nervous system scientists have now identified oxytocin—the mothering hormone—as having a much larger role in nervous system functioning than ever imagined. Those of us who identify as female—who have higher levels of oxytocin—can struggle in unique ways.
• Therapeutic movement like dance/movement therapy and yoga gently repattern our relationship with gravity—the mythic mother—Mother Earth—gently shifting our core sense of ourselves, our ability to self-regulate and therefore increase our self-esteem.
• The Mother/Daughter Dance practice offers space for this pair to re-engage with their Core Self individually as well as reconnect to each other internally and externally with grounding, flexibility and playfulness.
Long-time counselor, dance/movement therapist and teacher of Decatur School of Ballet’s Mom and Me class, Dee Wagner, combines with counselor, yoga teacher and eating disorder specialist Caroline Gebhardt to present this workshop, which unpacks the mother/daughter dance through yoga, dance and talk. All genders welcome. Recommended for pre-teens and teens plus parent.
*For more information and to register, contact Dee at 678-468-2981
$85 per mother/daughter duo (all genders welcome)
