Dance and choreography duo Xan Burley and Alex Springer are in residence at Emory University for two weeks this fall through the Donna and Marvin Schwartz Artist-in-Residence Program. Described as “Annoyingly fantastic dancers. Just perfect in how they parsed momentum, suspension, initiation,” by dance educator and writer Susan Van Pelt, Burley and Springer are generous dance technique teachers. Xan and Alex’s choreography has been presented by the most prestigious dance venues in New York City and beyond, including the American Dance Festival and Jacob’s Pillow. Before attending Smith College, where they both earned master of fine arts degrees, they danced with the highly acclaimed Doug Varone and Dancers. This class is open to the public but is intended for intermediate to advanced dancers. All dancers must wear face coverings during class and while in the Schwartz Center.
