Our workshops are designed to give Atlanta audiences a chance to learn choreography by professional choreographers before they see their work on stage! This workshop features two of our presented choreographers, Xavier Lewis (Atlanta Contemporary Resident Choreographer) and Andre Lumpkin (2022-23 Dance Canvas CCDI Choreographer)

About the classes:
Xavier Lewis: Contemporary Hip Hop – 6:00 – 7:00pm
This workshop blends the Hip Hop and Contemporary dance genres in the high energy movement of Xay Zoleil! Participants will get to learn a section from Xavier’s choreography and get to work with him before the world premiere of his new multi-faceted arts company, ViaUni, at Underground ATL in December.

Andre Lumpkin: House Dance – 7:00 – 8:00pm

This workshop will serve as an introduction to House Dance choreography and movement. It will give participants a chance to tap into their personal expression…which is the foundation of house culture. It’s all about moving, grooving and celebrating who you are! House is the revenge of Disco. Upbeat, infectious and a continued message for acceptance and progression. The music has connected with many different parts of the world and the movement creates space for people of many different creeds.
