DANCE
FROM ISREAL film by Andreas Morell (c) 2023 GERMANY
Dance
from Israel means: presence, modernity, emotion, beauty, but also
aggressiveness – and increasingly politics. In the best sense, dance is a
mirror of society.
Dance,
that comes from a country as politically and societally torn apart like Israel,
is exciting, challenging and even complex. The film explores this versatility:
Companies and choreographers speak about their experiences and rehearsals and
dance performances are visible.

In collaboration with Atlanta- and California-based artists/partners, Georgia Tech Arts presents NI DO TO and Out of the Dust – a transformative experience of shared connection that journeys through ancestral joy, historical trauma, and community resilience with the narrative of Japanese American incarceration during World War II.
NI DO TO consists of four distinctive works of art in mixed-reality, classical and digital interactive technology, and visual art offering reflective activities to help you explore current and future solidarities with communities facing the violence of xenophobic and racist policies.
Out of the Dust gives voice to the ghosts of Manzanar Detention Camp. Through poetry, music, and Japanese American folk dance, this dance film brings life to memories that were left behind in the windy dust-laden desert of Manzanar.
Experience NI DO TO and Out of the Dust in the lobby of the Ferst Center of the Arts. The exhibits are free and open to the public Tuesday–Saturday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., from September 18 through October 27 (closed Sept. 30 and Oct. 21 for home football games.)
