1830EST: Artists Talk was initiated in 2021 to cultivate community in response to the pandemic, when live experiences were not possible. The ongoing pandemic disrupted the rhythms of everyday life, prompting us to reconfigure how we connect, communicate, and work together.
For Core Dance’s 2022-23 1830 EST: Artist Talk Series, artist Amador Artiga will discuss his film “Hands…A Family Portrait” March 16 at 6:30 PM.
ABOUT AMADOR’S FILM:
Artiga’s film is an exploration into hands as it is transformed into a visual piece of art. The film explores places where the concrete give way to the non-figurative.
Artiga shares, “As an artist, my job is to find the fine line that separates abstraction from everyday gestures. The moment in which movement is transformed into shape, line, and rhythm but we can still perceive the emotion of the gesture. I am passionate about trying to discover the messages that these hands consciously send, but even more interesting are the gestures that pass under the radar of consciousness.”
