Event Details
Exploring the concept of joy, this ensemble work lives and breathes through the use of improvisational response, embodied research and interrogation, and group composition.
The work is steeped in self acceptance and celebration.
Each collaborating performer has undergone a process of self-exploration, asking themselves: Where does joy live in my body? How do I find it when joy is elusive or intangible? How do we share joy and pleasure with others?
What to Expect:
Each performance event includes an experience-based prologue, which includes optional participation in a guided movement practice, a “listening room,” and the opportunity to witness a danced solo by one of the collaborators.
Following the prologue, audience members will gather in one space to view the group performance work, in the round, in an intimate studio setting.
Each performance will end with an optional Epilogue, which will include shared food and conversation, another solo performance, and take-home thought prompts to encourage the work of investigating joy to live on!
Saturday, June 17: Prologue 7pm | Group Performance 7:30pm | Epilogue 8:15pm
Sunday, June 18: Prologue 5pm | Group Performance 5:30pm | Epilogue 6:15pm
