New Ground: New Dance at The Decatur
Arts Festival
will be presented in the Decatur Recreation Center at 231 Sycamore Street,
Downtown Decatur, GA, as well as ‘pop-up’ performances around the Festival
grounds. New Dance features free
movement workshops in a variety of styles, as well as entertaining and
thought-provoking dance performances of the newest work created by local
choreographers in many dance styles.
Workshops and performances will take place throughout the day on
Saturday and Sunday, May 6 & 7, 2023, with performances starting at 3:30 PM
both days.

large Magnolia Tree in front of the Decatur Recreation Center
Waiting for the Truth, performed by The Dancing Flowers
for Peace
A body(flower) waits in stillness
for the truth. A sign will be close to the flower(s) that says “ Waiting for
the Truth”. The flower (s) will maintain
that posture until relieved by Peace and Justice watering cans.

de Leon Pocket Park
Meraki performed
by Ourouborous
Dance Project
A transcultural fusion
belly dance performance featuring live drumming and dancing. Meraki is Greek
for doing something with soul, creativity or love.
