FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Atlanta’s Only Professional Tap Company will premier Its Inaugural Show Friday July 26th, 2019
ATLANTA, GA – July 10, 2019 – Dance Canvas presents Atlanta’s Only Professional Tap Company, The Tap Rebels. The Inaugural show titled “Conversations In Tap” explores the relationship between tap dance and the journey of connecting and conversing. The all-female six-member company is Atlanta’s only professional dance troupe focusing exclusively on the discipline of tap dance.
On Friday July 26 at 7:30pm, “Conversations In Tap” will premiere to a sold out audience at Georgia Tech’s Blackbox theatre, DramaTech. The exclusive one-night only engagement will also feature compilation pieces with guest performances from Peabody Award winning POET/Musician/EMCEE, Abyss; Motivational Musician and Pocket-Drummer, Major PianoDrum and World Renowned House Music DJ, The FREEZ Project.
Vanessa Zabari, Founder and Co-Artistic Director, The Tap Rebels said, “Tap dance has been such an integral part of my dance journey. I am excited to finally present to the world my vision of the lost art of tap dancing. I am so very proud of the ladies and our featured performers who have helped to bring a dream to life.”
“I saw the show in rehearsal last week, and these six women are some of the strongest dancers in Atlanta, especially since we don’t see professional Tap often in our region. Vanessa Zabari and Mary Beth Stinson lead the choreographic vision for this personal, raw “Conversation” in Tap. By far one of the absolute best experiences,” said Dance Canvas Executive Director, Angela Harris.
The Tap Rebels are the first participants in Dance Canvas’ new Company Incubator Pilot Program (DCCIPP). DCCIPP provides consulting and resources to an emerging choreographer starting a professional company in Atlanta.
